Accenture won a 10-Yr, $400Mn outsourcing contract from Thomas Cook


The services entailed under the contract include application and infrastructure management services for Thomas Cook’s back-office IT systems such as SAP-based enterprise resource planning solution, network management and technical services, finance and accounting services, and management reporting and HR services.

Wipro bags a 5-yr, $130Mn contract from Thames Water

Wipro Technologies will provide integrated IT services encompassing applications support, maintenance and infrastructure management services.

Scotiabank awards CAD 480Mn ITO contract to IBM

The contract entails IBM to administer the bank’s IT functions covering data centers, branch offices, automatic banking machines (ATMs), and helpdesk support operations.

IBM and AT&T in 5-Yr, $5Bn outsourcing agreement

IBM has outsourced its telecom and networking services to AT&T. In addition, an undisclosed number of IBM employees across more than 30 countries will be transferred to AT&T as a part of the contract.

CSC to buy FCG for $365Mn

CSC has signed an agreement to acquire First Consulting Group (FCG), a California- headquartered provider of IT services and products to health delivery, health plan, and life sciences organizations, in an allcash deal. The acquisition will enable CSC to enhance its healthcare position in the US, Asian, and European markets.

IBM to buy Cognos for $5Bn

IBM has agreed to buy business intelligence software vendor Cognos, in a bid to expand delivery of BI beyond the traditional user base. Cognos will be the 23rd company IBM has bought in pursuit of its “information on demand” strategy, launched in February 200 .

SAP to acquire Business Objects for EUR 4. Bn

SAP launched a bid to acquire Business Objects, a French business intelligence software company, in an all-cash deal. The acquisition is in line with SAP’s previously announced plans to double its addressable market to 100,000 customers by 2010.

 

Aditi acquires IP of chat application

Aditi Technologies has acquired the intellectual property rights for MindAlign , an application for enterprise group chat, from Parlano, which was recently acquired by Microsoft. As part of the deal, Aditi acquired 5 customers, including five of the top seven global banks, who presently use MindAlign .

Genpact buys Citi BPO for $700Mn

Genpact won the race to buy out Citigroup’s call centers in India. The deal was clinched after a week of final negotiations for around $700 million. The Citi acquisition will add around 10,000 agents to Genpact’s current strength of over 20,000 executives spread over eight cities in India.

Nielsen awards 10-Yr, $1.2Bn global IT and BPO contract to TCS

TCS will provide Nielsen a variety of IT application, consulting, and BPO services. It will also assist the media company in standardizing and consolidating its worldwide systems, technologies, and processes. TCS will also be responsible for managing some of the finance and HR related business processes of Nielsen using its newly developed BPO platforms.

Accenture wins a 7-Yr $185Mn BPO contract from Microsoft

Accenture is to provide Microsoft Corp. with a range of finance and accounting (F&A) and procurement services. Accenture will provide these services to Microsoft in 92 countries and 36 languages outside the United States.

Convergys wins 3-Yr, $46Mn customer care contract from US manufacturer

The terms of the contract entails Convergys to offer the client with transformational planning, customer care support, speech applications, learning, and business intelligence solutions to support the manufacturer’s contact center transformation initiative and operations.

Cognizant to buy marketRx for $135Mn

Cognizant Technology Solutions has agreed to buy marketRx, a New Jersey-based provider of analytics and related software services to Life Sciences companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical devices segments.

The transaction will enhance Cognizant’s position in the Life Sciences analytics segment and allow it to offer an extended range of outsourced services to its Life Sciences clients. The acquisition will also add another 75 Life Sciences clients including pharmaceutical and biotech companies to Cognizant’s clientele.
